France 2030: 20 new winning projects for sovereign robotics of excellence

France 2030: 20 new winning projects for sovereign robotics of excellence
At SIDO in Lyon, the trade fair dedicated to the convergence of IoT, AI, XR and Robotics technologies, the Ministry of Economy, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and the General Secretariat for Investment in charge of France 2030, present the 20 winning projects from the first two rounds of the call for projects "Offer of robots and intelligent machines of excellence".France is internationally recognized for its robotics research. It is ranked in the world's top 5 in terms of scientific publications. and displays a strong entrepreneurial dynamic in this area.

In industry, new generation robots, more interactive and flexible, make it possible to combine performance, efficiency and agility of production lines, in a new collaborative dynamic. These new solutions are suitable for both large companies and very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises (VSEs, SMEs, and mid-sized companies), which are the driving force of our regions. Equipment manufacturers, integrators, and solution providers for the industry of the future are key players in developing the offering and accelerating its deployment. Aligned with the ambitions of France 2030, France launched a strategy dedicated to robotics and intelligent machines a year ago, aiming to address the challenges of four main objectives :

  • Strengthening our strategic autonomy on the major markets of energy and ecological transitions;
  • Reindustrializing through disruptive innovations (of processes, economic models and organizations);
  • Position France as a leader in emerging and high value-added robotics markets;
  • Contributing to the 10 objectives of France 2030, robotics being a technology of general interest.

Launched in July 2023 as part of France's 2030 robotics strategy, the call for projects "Offer of robots and intelligent machines of excellence" aims to foster the emergence and development of robotics companies for new industrial sectors of excellencecapable of vying for European or even global leadership in rapidly growing emerging markets or those disrupting consolidated markets. It must also enable strengthen our strategic autonomy in the major markets of energy and ecological transitions, particularly for critical sectors (infrastructure, nuclear, energy, water, communication, security, construction, logistics & transport).

This call for tenders is being made on behalf of the French government by Bpifrance. Three more rounds of funding are planned:

  • October 10, 2024 at 12:00 PM (noon, Paris time)
  • February 13, 2025 at 12:00 PM (noon, Paris time)
  • June 5, 2025 at 12:00 PM (noon, Paris time)

For the first wave of the program, Six projects and 16 winning organizations were selected for a total of €22.1 million in aid. For the second phase of the program, Fourteen projects and fifteen winning organizations were selected for a total of €26.4 million in aid. By becoming France 2030 laureates, these talented robotics and additive manufacturing companies will accelerate their development, increasing their revenues and workforce. The projects focus on significant innovations to conquer European and international markets. WAVE 1 WINNERS

CU – powered by PaintUp (PE) – PaintUP is industrializing the XL mobile robot, winner of the remediation robotics competition organized by EDF and Nuclear Valley. This equipment, manufactured in France, is capable of cleaning and mapping residual radioactivity and enabling the reuse of dismantled buildings. WINNERS OF WAVE 2 ARU ENERGIES – Nimble One (PE) ARU is being developed, a mobile robot with a disruptive polymorphic architecture and a wide range of movements. The goal of this project is to industrialize ARU and specialize it in the energy sector (nuclear, hydroelectric, etc.). EFF GEN 2 – Aisprid (PE) The project aims to develop a second-generation tomato defoliating robot that is more robust, precise, and reliable in its trajectories. It offers detailed recognition of the entire plant and its cutting capabilities, extends the robot's operating range (including nighttime work), and improves the solution's performance across different types and varieties of tomatoes. EIS3D – Kelenn Technologies (PE) The project aims to revolutionize the design and manufacturing of electronic functions by developing new additive and digital technologies for structural printed electronics, combined with robotics. This innovative approach will enable the direct deposit and interconnection of electronic components within and onto 3D structures. AboutFrom the France 2030 investment plan:

  • This reflects a dual ambition The goal is to sustainably transform key sectors of our economy (healthcare, energy, automotive, aerospace, and space) through technological innovation, and to position France not just as a player, but as a leader in the world of tomorrow. From fundamental research and the emergence of an idea to the production of a new product or service, France 2030 supports the entire innovation lifecycle, right up to its industrialization.
  • It is unprecedented in its scale €54 billion will be invested to ensure that our businesses, universities, and research institutions successfully complete their transitions in these strategic sectors. The goal is to enable them to respond competitively to the environmental and economic challenges of the coming world, and to foster the emergence of future leaders in our key sectors. France 2030 is defined by two cross-cutting objectives: to dedicate 50% of its spending to decarbonizing the economy, and 50% to emerging players driving innovation without environmentally harmful expenditures (in accordance with the Do No Significant Harm principle).
  • Is implemented collectively This initiative is conceived and implemented in consultation with economic, academic, local, and European stakeholders to determine its strategic directions and key actions. Project leaders are invited to submit their applications through open, rigorous, and selective procedures to benefit from state support.
  • It is managed by the General Secretariat for Investment on behalf of the Prime Minister and implemented by the Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME), the National Research Agency (ANR), Bpifrance, and the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC)
