A follower of Joseph Schumpeter and his theory of creative destruction, which he has explored in great depth, and a great advocate of innovation, Philippe Aghion has inspired (and sometimes advised) no less than three French presidents (N.Sarkozy, F.Hollande, E.Macron) on economic issues. A former professor at MIT, Harvard and Oxford, in 2023 he co-chaired the Commission on Artificial Intelligence, at the invitation of then Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne. Surrounded by some 15 experts – including Anne Bouverot, Gilles Babinet, Luc Julia, Yann Le Cun and Arthur Mensch – he drew up a detailed report with 25 strategic recommendations, submitted in March 2024 to French President Emmanuel Macron.

Trained as an engineer and Managing Director of Hyperfiction, Sébastien Beck has over 30 years’ experience in computer-generated images, whether applied to simulators, Serious Games, digital special effects, augmented reality or virtual reality. After initial experience as a flight simulator developer at Dassault Aviation’s flight test center, at the end of 1992 he joined Medialab, a Canal+ subsidiary dedicated to new images, where he developed virtual reality and real-time 3D animation programs. After seven years as a radio manipulator, Samuel Guigo discovered 3D printing in 2019 thanks to a research project involving the pre-operative simulation of an intracranial aneurysm treatment procedure on a “patient-specific 3D printed model”. Building on this initial experience, he is extending the approach and skills acquired in CAD and additive manufacturing to other surgeries and other areas of the hospital. In 2023, W.Print, Brest University Hospital’s 3D printing platform, was officially launched. Located at the hospital’s innovation center and comprising 9 3D printers (SLA, FDM, Polyjet), this unit is a veritable laboratory, offering services to patients, staff and users of the CHU. The platform has already been called upon for some sixty use cases, ranging from anatomical models and spare parts to the design of customized tools for teaching or scientific research purposes.

Florent Kirchner is the Head of the French Cybersecurity Strategy: within the Prime Minister’s services, he is tasked with planning and coordinating investments nation-wide and in connexion with European initiatives. This is part of the France2030 plan, a 54B€ investment effort overall. After seven years with Sogeti/Capgemini, Bastien Laforet joined the Volvo Group in 2006 and held a number of manufacturing-related positions, supporting local delivery teams and the Volvo Group in their IT quality journey. This experience led him to work in the Group’s various factories to implement lean manufacturing within local IT teams, from Curitiba in Brazil to Ageo in Japan. Based in Lyon, with teams spread across eight countries, Bastien has made a move to connect IT security and quality in 2019, focusing mainly on the ‘non-standard’: all the connected tools that cannot be managed in a fleet and are specific to the Volvo Group’s core business. In 2021, this new area gave rise to the Quality & Security entity, which Bastien headed up and which, in addition to these two areas, brought together all the cross-functional processes (asset management, request management, vulnerability management, etc.). The last change came in July 2024, when the Quality & Security entity became Digital Quality & Ops. Mathieu Wellhoff is head of the Digital Sobriety department at ADEME, the French agency for ecological transition. Specializing in the development of new public policies, he leads a team of around ten people who develop expertise in reducing the environmental impact of digital technology (green IT), as well as the effectiveness of digital solutions for the ecological transition (IT for green). In this area, ADEME supports the general public, local authorities and businesses through information and awareness-raising campaigns, the deployment of pilot projects in local areas, and the funding of business innovation, notably through the €25 million France 2030 ECONUM call for projects.
